Abstract
This study sought to investigate student enrolment and in technical education courses in the
Department of building at Rwika Technical Institute .It intended to answer the following
research questions:
What is the attitude of the learners towards vocational skills offered? ; To what extent
are the learning resources at the training center adequate to assisting for the
acquisition of the vocation skills? ; What are the different courses offered in these
vocational training? ; And what is the economic status of the parents or guardians of the
learners? The research adopted a descriptive survey design. The target population
comprised of one public, vocational and training Institute. A stratified random
sampling was used in this study.
Questionnaires were used.
The study will hopefully help curriculum developers of technical education courses to come up
with a friendlier and manageable curriculum for the youths in vocational training centers.
The study will hopefully help government and education policy makers in adding appropriate
learning resources and improving physical facilities to enable effective skill acquisition in
vocational training centers.
The study will help the teacher’s employer in improving instructors’ terms and conditions of
work to reduce teacher burn out through taking them for upgrading courses and improving their
salaries.
Successful students from training centers be given incentives to encourage them do better in their
education.
