Publication Open Access Analysis of Diversification Strategies on Organizations’ performance of Cement firms in Kenya.(European Journal of Business and Management, 2022-11-30) Kanchori, Daniel; Thoronjo, Erastus; Omuya, JacquelineCement manufacturing firms in Kenya have experienced a decline in performance. The firms have turned to innovative products diversification such as pre-cast concrete paving blocks and precast molded products. This research purposed to analyse related diversification strategy influence on organizational performance of Kenyan cement firms’. The study was backed up by resource-based review theory. The study was done in cement industrial sector in Kenya and all cement manufacturing firms were studied. The study used descriptive crosssectional research design in collecting data relating to the research objective. The target population of research was all the marketing, finance, production managers and assistant managers from the same departments who were used as important informants. The study had a total of 108 managers and supervisors as its target population. This being a census study, all the marketing, finance, production managers and their assistants were used in this study. In piloting of study tool, respondents were nominated from Savannah cement and were having the same noticeable features as those of main study. The scholar used questionnaire as a tool to collect data from the key informants. The quantitative technique was used to analyse data where descriptive and inferential statistics were used. Related diversification strategy has significant influence on the performance of Kenyan cement firms. The related products are produced using same machinery making the cement companies to realize economies of scale for better performance. Firms aiming at increasing their performance should adopt related diversification strategy to meet the customers’ demands.Publication Open Access Influence of Corporate Cost Leadership Strategies on Organizational Performance among Mobile Service Providers: A Comparative Analysis of Safaricom Plc and Airtel (K) Ltd in Kenya(nternational Journal of Business Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2023-03) Njiru, Joseph Njuguna Kamunjiga; Thoronjo, Erastus; Njeru, PhelistaThe study objective was to comparatively determine the influence of corporate cost leadership strategies on the organizational performance of Airtel and Safaricom. The study applied quantitative approach, used positivism paradigm, and adopted correlational research design. The target population was 235 managerial staff of Safaricom and Airtel and used a census approach. The data was collected using questionnaires and secondary data collection sheets for the period 2013 to 2022. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Tables and figures were used in the presentation of the data. From the correlation analysis, corporate cost leadership strategies (r=0.283, p<0.05) were established to be positively correlated to performance of mobile service providers in Kenya. The study concluded that cost leadership strategies aid in optimizing costs, offering competitive prices based on customer numbers, and diligently curtailing operating expenses and thus affecting performance of mobile service providers. The study recommends that mobile service providers continually refine operational efficiency. The study recommends that mobile service providers prioritize a comprehensive understanding of the market, adopting location-specific strategies that cater to local demands while maintaining cost efficiency and categorizing customers based on a range of factors, providers can tailor offerings to specific needs, enhancing customer engagement. Adoption of the strategies will enable the mobile service providers to effectively contribute to vision 2030 and achievement of sustainable development goals.Item Open Access Influence of Strategic Technological Alignment on Organization’s Performance in Selected Companies Listed in Nairobi Securities Exchange in Kenya(European Journal of Business and Management, 2017-01-29) Makanga, Njage; Thoronjo, ErastusIn the contemporary world today, top managers of businesses and companies are continuously making strategic decision to improve or outperform their competitors. The success of an organization depends on how well managers strategically allocate and use resources at their disposal. The degree of technological advancement of an organization has is a key resource influencing the performance of businesses. This study sought to determine how strategic technological alignment influences the performance of business firms listed in NSE. The study employed an exploratory research design and collected data from top managers of firms listed in NSE. The study pursued a stratified random sampling to select the respondents of the study. The sample size of the study was 100. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the findings, the study revealed that different firms had aligned strategically technologically. Some firms had developed liberal plans of spending and plans for acquiring information, technology, information technology programmes and innovation as well as manipulation of the existing equipment to keep abreast with the changing technological environment. Others had made alignments to ensure there was adequate number of IT staff, upheld systems that fortified customer benefits, made administration efficient and bolstered client use as a way of enhancing product offering. The regression test showed that effect of the technological alignment had positive significant influence and contributed towards performance of the firm listed in NSE
