Despite the enactment of children’s Act 2001, cases of child abuse in Kenya are still rampant due to lack of effective implementation on the Legislation Kenya citizen. Nonetheless, there is a number of problems to surmount Kenya severe economic and social difficulties have prevented the full realization of children rights (www.newsfromafrica.orgnewsfromafr...) The purpose of this study is to investigate into causes of child abuse and their impact on academic performance of students in Mathira east zone, Karatina Sub County in Nyeri County. The objectives of this study were to identify the major categories of child abuse, to establish the causes of child abuse, to investigate consequences of child abuse, to suggest ways of and means or preventing child abuse and to find out number of children abused. The target population this study was 24 teachers and 320 parents making a total of 344. The researcher will further sampled the population to four schools out of sixteen, eight teacher and 29 parents. The research design adopted for his study will be interview guide to collect information from the parents and questionnaires’ for the teachers subsequently the researcher will use simple random sampling technique to sample the schools, teachers and parents. This study will recommends all stakeholders to stamp out abuse by initiating guidance and counseling to cater for school learners who have undergone abuse to help them live a better life even after abuse.
