Abstract
Teenage neglect on emotional development is a common problem in the upbringing of teenage today. The researcher intends to show what teenage neglect are, causes of it and how it has affected teenager’s development. The purpose of the study is to seek and document ways in which the community should develop system of enlightening and mobilizing caregivers to alleviate teenage neglect and develop system to basic needs of neglecting families in teenage education. The researcher will use descriptive design while carrying out the research and apply simple random sampling to select a sample size in Daadab district, Garissa County. The target population will contain 6 schools of which 3 will be refugee schools and 3 will be local schools. The researcher will administer questionnaires on the students in form 2, 3 and 4 in all the schools and select the students randomly. The target sample will consist 10 student of each form in all the six schools hence a total of 180 students. The researcher will use DOPU (Drop/pickup) method and collect the filled questionnaires the following day in order to give the students adequate time to read the questions and answer. The researcher will analyze the data using frequency tables, percentage, graphs and pie charts. The significance of the study on teenage neglect will enlighten and contribute skills to the society and parents as a whole that teenager neglect is hazardous to the academic, social and emotional development of their children. This will sensitize community, parents and caregivers by mobilizing and making them aware of effects of teenage neglect in order to develop their teenagers emotionally, socially and academically.
