Causes of high girl child drop out rate in primary school in Murarandia zone in Kahuro District, Murang'a County.

Abstract

An investigation on causes of high girl child drop out rate in primary schools in Murarandia zone in Kahuro district.T he objectives of this study is to find out the causes of girl child drop out in primary schools. Also, to establish the effects of girl child drop out and the measures that should be put forward in order to curb girl child drop out. The significance of the study is to gather information and make conclusions that will eradicate girl child drop out. There had been girl child drop out from primary schools. It was therefore that the researchers investigate the cause of girl- child drop out from schools in Murarandia Zoe at the teenager onset. The researcher set twelve questions which she issued to five schools in the areas. The twelve questions were to be filled by respondents (learners) who were of both genders; six boy and six girls who were selected at random and who were more conversant with language. The researcher design was survey. It involved collection of data form population. After the data collection, the researcher then analysed it using quantitative method using table. After the researcher, the researcher noted there had been drop out girls-child from primary schools in Murarandia Zone due to pregnancies, lack of fee and cultural beliefs among others. It was therefore imperative that the education stakeholders to intervene and alleviate the problem through guiding and counselling to all learner and their parents, government to train counsellor s and sensitize the general public to train counsellors and sensitize the general public on importance of girl - child education in their future.
