Causes of examination cheating both in primary and secondary Schools .A Case study of selected schools of Ndithini District in Masinga Sub-county Machakos county.

Abstract

During the past decades cheating in examinations among the primary and secondary students has been well known challenge in our education system .The aim of this research is to present a study, investigating the frequency and occurrence of examination cheating ,the method and forms used in examination cheating ,the motives for cheating in an examination among others . Examination irregularities have dramatically increased in our national examinations even after some measures and many penalties were put by the KNEC towards curbing this vice .It has gone to extend of national and big schools involving themselves in this vice a good example been Maranda high school which was affected some years back. Examination irregularities have been occurring in many forms and methods both in national and internal exams .The research mainly is concerned in investigating the different forms, methods, causes and motives to examination cheating. On the other hand everything happens with a reason so the researcher tries to find the reasons for cheating, the contributing factors to examination cheating, and the consequences of examination cheating and finally it suggests some area for further research on this emerging issue.
