This study assessed the factors influencing debate festivals in secondary schools in Kitui County, Nzambani District. Chuluni zone. This study also examined the availability of the necessary resources and the teachers and learners' preparedness in participation in debate festivals. The study investigated the strategies and measures teachers and concerned educational stakeholders are using to implement debate festivals in schools. The researcher was interested in establishing the attitude of secondary school students and educational stakeholders on debate festivals and how this impacts performance on academic. The study investigated whether secondary schools do receive any funds to support debate festivals. The findings of this study provided secondary school teachers, educators, policy makers, the Ministry of education, Kenya Institute of Education and other stakeholders in the education sector with a framework for review of curriculum for secondary education in Kenya. Besides, it provided a new body of knowledge that may be useful in planning for secondary school debate festivals in Kenyan public secondary schools in line with the government funding. Simple random sampling was used for selecting the students from the target population. The researcher used a sample size of 100 hundred respondents. The simple sampling was used in order to give each student, teacher and educational stakeholders an equal opportunity to be selected. Five form 2 students, five form three students, five form four students, five educational officials from the office of district education, were randomly sampled from each of five secondary schools within Chuluni Zone. The researcher used this procedure because it has no discrimination and therefore all had equal chances of being used as the sample population so it was a fair procedure.en_US
