dc.description.abstract | The study was carried to find out an assessment of the challenges facing the implementation of ICT program in Musengo zone, Kitui County. The study was guided by the following objectives to assess whether teacher are trained to handle ICT, to identify factors hindering successful implementation of ICT in Musengo zone, Kitui County, to establish the attitude of teachers towards ICT programme in Musengo zone. The researcher used descriptive survey research design to carry out the study. The study population was composed of 12 schools in Musengo. This consisted of 2 girls boarding, 2 boys boarding, 3 mixed boarding and 5 day mixed schools. The teacher’s population for the 12 schools was 130. The researcher used 30% of 130 which was 40 teachers’ respondents who were randomly sampled from the four schools. The study used questionnaires as instruments for data collection. The data collection was done and after collection was analyzed using SPSS programme where the research findings was presented in form of tables, pie charts and bar graphs. From the study findings the following were concluded; Male teachers like ICT than female teacher’s especially youthful teachers from college. The elderly teachers who were more experienced in teaching were ignorant of ICT. Majority of teachers were not trained in ICT they thus they knew not the importance of ICT implementation in schools, those who were trained were self sponsored. The government had not taken any initiative to sponsor teachers to do ICT to enable implementation. The study found out that only the school administration uses the available computers although only in a few schools as most of schools were not connected with electricity. The schools connected with electricity had no facilities for ICT. Teachers ignorance, negative attitude toward ICT was another major hindrance. | en |
