dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate the contribution of second language acquisition to the learning and teaching of the English Language in Secondary Schools in Wote division in Makueni County. This was in order to create awareness to sponsors, teachers and parents on how second language acquisition contributes to the teaching and learning of English Language in Secondary schools. The findings of this research helped the researcher come up with suggestions that can possibly help ease the process of teaching and learning the English subject by helping the children acquire a second language at an earlier age. This study employed survey research design. The sample size comprised so participants as follows; 40 students in secondary school, 5 English teachers and 5 parents. The researcher employed two types of research instruments thus questionnaires and interview schedules. Tabulated data tables were used by the researcher to analyze the data and come up with information which enabled the researcher to make conclusions and generalize the findings of other situations.en_US
