Abstract
The introduction of computers studies in secondary school was good news to many people including parents, teachers, students and educational stakeholders. This was because ICT has become a principal driver of economic and social change worldwide and to be able to achieve the Millennium development goals and the vision 2030 ICT need to be incorporated in the curriculum. The study has investigated on what challenges are being faced has the computer technology being implemented in teaching methodology in Kenya secondary schools in Matinyani District in Kitui county. The main purpose is to establish the extent implementation computer technology in teaching methodology in Kenya secondary schools (in Matinyani District in Kitui County). In this study the researcher has adopted descriptive design. This design is proved to be the appropriate method for the researcher for collecting and analyzing data. This design has enabled the researcher to describe and evaluate the problem in advance of making conclusions and recommendation that are well informed. In addition other methods of data collection have been used to facilitate efficiency, validity and accuracy as expressed below (on data collection procedure).Proper analysis has been done on the data collected, computed to come up with proper useful information that has been used to make useful decisions. Finally proper decisions have been made hand in hand with correct recommendation to enhance proper actions to solve the problem at hand. In chapter one the research tries to introduce the study and how it dealt with the background of the study where the concern and interest of the study was highlighted. The statement of problem was made, significant of the study was given, research questions were formulated, the scope and delimitation of study. Key terms to be used in study were explained. Chapter two looks into other related studies that have been done on the effectiveness of the implementation of computer studies in secondary schools. This chapter is guided by the research questions formulated in chapter one. Chapter three presented the data design and methodology that are used to collect data during the study. The chapter also tries to explain issues like: research design, target population, description of sampling techniques, description of data collection instruments, description of data collection procedures and data analysis procedures. The sampling techniques employed for the study included stratified sampling for the selection of schools, stratified random sampling and simple random sampling computer laboratory technicians, sampling for teachers and convenience sampling for the principals. The research instruments used for data collection were questionnaires check lists and interview guide. Data collection procedures involved prior visits to the twelve schools by the researcher, distribution of research instrument and later collection. Data collected was analyzed using spreadsheet i.e. Microsoft excel Chapter four is the analysis and presentation of the collected data in the field. This data is represented in diagrams which include charts, tables and graphs. The percentages of data collected are included in data presentation. Chapter five gives the findings of the study and also tries to give some recommendations by the both the respondents who were conducted for the study and the researcher
