Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate on the drug abuse on the family and learners at risking school failure in Tigania zone, Akithii division of Kenya. The following objective guided the study. To investigate on the causes of drug abuse among pupils on their academic performance to examine the effect of drug abuse towards academic performance and to find our measures put in place to control drug abuse in primary school in Kenya. The study showed the significant of drug that included poor performance in the schools. The study was guided by two main theories which best address the issue of the substance abuse this include; the disease model and the biopsychosocial model. This study used a descriptive survey which both the qualitative and quantitative analysis was also used. The study was conducted in selected primary schools and secondary school in Tigania West, Akithii division of Kenya. The target population comprised the pupils and student present in the school in the day of survey. The researchers used simple random sampling methods where every member was given an equal chance for being selected or sampled. Also self-administering was used to collect data from respondents the data was analyzed through comparing the findings of the study. The researcher used questions and interview as research instrument. The researcher used questionnaires to collect data from the respondents and the key information interview was carried out with the local population. The researcher asked questions and at the same time fills in the answers.
