Abstract
This study dealt with investigating the effects of student –teacher relationship on the academic performance of students and its influence on student academic performance .Research objectives that guided the study included causes of poor teacher-learner relationship, the effects of teachers- learner relationship on academic performance, and possible measures to improve teacher- learners relationship to enhance academic performance of students. The study was based on Abraham Maslow’s theory of motivation and a definition of operational terms were given. Chapter two gave a review of related literature based on the research objectives mentioned above. Chapter three outlined the research design and methodology where the study used the descriptive survey method while the study was located in Makueni county .All students in secondary schools in the area of study were targeted and only 25 were sampled to be used in the study. Research instruments used were questionnaires since they collect data required fast in a large population. Chapter four gave the research data analysis and presentation in form of tables, figures and charts.
