An assessment of effects of poverty on secondary School performance in Githunguri subcounty, Kiambu County.

This research proposal focused on the impacts of poverty in the education performance in Kenya with a case study of Githunguri district. The background of the study gave an overview of what poverty is and some causes of poverty in rural areas. The study was guided by specific objective; to evaluate the impacts of poverty on performance of education in Githunguri district. A descriptive research design was applied in its methodology. The study assessed schools in Githunguri District, Kiambu County. A sample size of 10 Schools was studied from the total population of 25 using the sampling framework. The primary data was collected by use of semi- structured questionnaires. The refined quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics.
