Investigating the effects of drug and substance abuse on academic Performance of secondary school students in township location Garissa District, Garissa County. Kenya

Abstract

This study will involve investigation on effects of drug and substance abuse on academic performance of secondary school students in Township location,Garissa district Garissa County. Many schools in this region have been experiencing challenges in an attempt to eliminate this problem of drug and substance abuse and at the same time improve on performance among the secondary school students. In spite of all the employed efforts, performance has remained to be very wanting while drug and substance abuse has continued to be on the rise Ten (10) secondary schools will participate in the study and will be selected using random sampling technique. Both random and purposive sampling technique will be used in selecting hundred (100) respondents. Data that will be collected thereafter shall be analyzed using both descriptive and statistical techniques. Major findings and recommendations of the study will relayed to the ministry of education,school and community therefore necessary action to be taken if need be.
