A research project on effects of free secondary education on students’ performance in Machakos District secondary schools in Machakos county .

The aim of this project was to find out the effects of school related factors and family related factors on performance in education in Machakos District schools in Machakos County. Chapter one summarizes the background information about the research problem. It also highlights on the research objectives that were used to come up with findings, tables that were acquired are also shown on this part. Chapter two highlights the literature review information about how various researchers have said about the same problem. Several authorities who have done research on the same topic including Wado, 2007, Chebet, 2008, Santrock, 2002 and Papalia, 1996. Chapter three has information on the research instruments that were utilized during the research which includes: observations, interviews and questionnaires. Chapter four summarizes the findings of the research project presented in form of tables and analyzed using line graphs, pie charts and bar graphs. Chapter five introduces what the whole study was all about and the achievements the researcher made during the study .The chapter also proposes the relevant recommendations which can be out into consideration to curb the problem. The conclusion of the research was also made in this chapter
