Abstract
The researcher collected information on the study in depth of the problem that is the rate of the school drop-out in public school. The study was carried out in Zombe zone, Mutito sub-county Kitui county. The main objective of the study was to provide the entire society with the accurate information about school drop-out ,its challenges and also investigated the means through which measures would be put in place to curb school drop-out that remain rampant despite the government policy of free primary education (F.P.E) The researcher randomly selected 5 schools from fifteen primary schools found in Zombe Zone in Kitui County, also data from ministry of education (M.O.E) office in Mutito Sub County. The study targeted pupils from lower and upper primary, teachers and parents. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. Random sampling technique was used to sample pupils for the study while the purposive sampling technique was used to sample teachers and parents. Questionnaire was used by the researcher as instrument for data collection. A total number of 100 respondents were interviewed for the study i.e. 7 pupils, 7 teachers and 6 parents from each school.
