dc.description.abstract | This study sets to investigate the influence of guidance and counselling services in public secondary schools students’ discipline in Bura Zone, Tana North Sub-County. The researcher had set objectives, which sought to determine the extent to which provision of guidance and counselling materials, teacher counselors’ exposure, peer training, guest speakers and the time allocated to students counselling influenced students’ discipline in Bura Zone, Kenya. The researcher used the descriptive survey design to carry out the research. The respondents for this study were 20 secondary school principals, 20 teacher counsellors and 144 form 4 students. A pilot study was conducted to test the validity and reliability of the instruments. Data was analyzed using percentages and descriptive analysis. Simple Random Sampling was used on the 20 sampled schools to select head teachers in. The head teachers, pupils and parents were the respondents for this study. Purposive sampling was used to select guidance and counselling teachers who was presently in school to be respondents. Purposive sampling is one that is selected in a deliberative and non random fashion to achieve a certain goal. The main instruments for data collection was questionnaires, interview schedules and school records. Data collected was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively through descriptive statistics. Validity of the instruments was checked by consultation from my supervisor from the School of Continuing and Distance Education. Reliability was measured by testretest technique. Operational definition of variables was used to guide in data analysis. | en_US |
