Abstract
The research project is entitled factors contributing to prevalence single motherhood and its effect in academic performance in Kamaradi location, Tharaka Nithi County. The objective of the study include finding out the extent teenage pregnancy contributed to prevalence of single motherhood, how women empowerment contributed to the prevalence of single motherhood, how abandonment by spouse contributed to single prevalence of single motherhood and how prevalence single motherhood affect academic performance. This project also include the literature review, research instrument which include interviews and questioners as it’s seen as the most appropriate instrument of collecting data. In conclusion the project calls for government to train learners need of education so that they can overcome single motherhood in the area of he study. This project also entail ethical consideration that was applied by the researcher while carrying out her research. The researcher found out clearly why prevalence single motherhood affects education and calls for government to train learners need of single motherhood in education in Kamarandi location in Tharaka Nithi County.
