| dc.description.abstract | In Sub-Sahara Africa and many other developing countries, girls and women are losing the battle for equal access to secondary education. Among the factors attributed to this scenario is teenage pregnancy. It is in line with this state of affairs that this study sought establish the strategies employed by county government in pregnancy prevention among secondary school girls in Transmara west sub-county. This study was guided by the social theory of feminism which involves a range or a continuum of political and theoretical feminist positions. The study utilized the mixed methodology approach and concurrent triangulation research design. The study targeted 337 respondents. For the purpose of getting a representative sample, the researcher stratified the schools into school types. All the four girls schools were purposively selected while five (50%) mixed secondary schools were selected using simple random sampling. Piloting was carried out in Transmara East Sub- County in order to establish reliability, validity, dependability and credibility. Reliability of research instruments were ensured through a test-re-test method. The research instruments were given to experts in the field of educational management in Mount Kenya University in order to ensure validity of the instruments. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques while inferential statistics were presented using the Coefficient Correlation. It was expected that the study unraveled the redress mechanisms in prevention of early teenage pregnancies among secondary school girls in Transmara west sub-county. Strategies employed by the students, County government strategies, national government strategies and community strategies positively and significantly influence pregnancy prevention. | |
