dc.description.abstractThis research study seek to determine the impact of lunch programmes on learning in day public primary school in Nyawita Zone. The study also sought to discover the impact of food provision state in Nyawita Zone, establish its effects on attendance, enrolment and performance of children in day Public Primary School in the division. The target population of this study was 38 public primary schools in Nyawita Zone from which a sample of 16 public schools which have day Public Primary Schools was selected. A survey research design will be used to carry out the study. The study will use primary and secondary data. The primary data will be collected using questionnaires, observation, checklists, performance tests and interview guides. Secondary data consisted of report forms of Pupils. Questionnaires included structured and unstructured questions, and were administered through drop-and-pick method to the target population. An observation checklist was used to help the researcher establish the conditions of the nutrition that day Public Primary School children receive. A schedule was used to interview parents and teachers. Report forms of children in day Public Primary School for the last three school examinations was collected to help compare the performance day Public Primary School children from middle income families with those from low income families and also of those in school lunch programmes with those outside such programmes. Data collected was organized according to the population studied and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Excel was used to analyse it, using descriptive statistic. The results of this study revealed that in the present only 23% of the schools had a lunch programme. In those schools with lunch programme students performed better, had increased enrollment and attendance rates.en
