Factors contributing to students’ indiscipline at secondary School level in Kitui county, Kenya

In Kenya, indiscipline in our secondary schools has often been a nagging issue to teachers, parents and education officials. This is partly blamed on patents and teachers inability to handle emerging issues relating to indiscipline. The central problem of this study is to investigate the factors contributing to the student’s indisciple in secondary schools in Kitui County. The study will be of importance because indiscipline negatively affects education performance in the county. The focus of this study will be to determine and analyze the major factors contributing to student’s indiscipline in our secondary schools. The study will be performed through sampling schools using purposive sampling techniques. This sampling technique will be used through the criteria of boarding and day status on the bases of both public and private secondary schools. Equal number of (20) students will be selected from each school. Four guidance and counseling teachers per school will also be selected. A total of (120) secondary students and (24) guidance and counseling teachers will be interviewed. Data will be selected using questionnaire for students and teachers. An interview schedule for the schools will be based on cases of indiscipne cases in schools. Based on these findings, the researcher will attempt to suggest recommendation to the teachers about various amicable and understanding ways of solving indiscipline problems. Teachers, parents and education officials will be guided on how to identify causes of indiscipline and desirable behaviuors among students. how often they can deal with the menace to develop Various techniques will be suggested to control indiscipne cases in our schools. Recommendations will also be put in place for the teachers to minimize cases of indiscipline and improve on school academic standards.
