Abstract
This study sought to investigate the challenges experienced in the implementation of knowledge
management in secondary schools. Objectives of the study are: to find out the knowledge
management practices used in secondary schools in Kenya, to identify the financial resource
constraints experienced in implementing Knowledge management in secondary schools, to establish
whether human resource is a challenge in the implementation of knowledge management in
secondary schools, to find out the measures that can be put in place to effectively implementation of
knowledge management in secondary schools. By shedding information on the challenges and
measures that can be taken to improve implementation of subsidized. The study will be carried out
among secondary schools in Laikipia West District. The study will adopt a survey research design.
The target population for the study will be made up of the head teachers of secondary schools in
Laikipia West District. Currently there are 35 secondary schools in Laikipia West District with a
total population of 35head teachers all of whom were selected for study. The study will use
questionnaires to collect raw data from the respondents. The validity of the research instruments
will be achieved through the expert judgment of the Mku lecturers. After the questionnaires are
filled and collected from the field, they will be carefully edited and corrected for consistency before
they are coded for analysis using the computer. Descriptive statistics will be used on the analysis
included frequencies and percentages. Presentation of data will be done in the form of tables, charts
and graphs.
