dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research was to investigate the major causes of exam cheating in Migwani Zone, Kitui County. The study population consisted of 4 secondary schools in Migwani zone. The data collected from 275 respondents by use of questionnaires. The study aimed at addressing the causes of exam cheating in Migwani zone, the study focused. Its attention on the students and teachers in Migwani zone, Kitui County. Several factors complains have been raised up when are contributing to exam cheating. The research objectives and research questions formulated were in line with the research title. The study set out to achieve the following objectives: a) To find out the major causes of exam cheating among high school students. b) To find out whether guidance and counseling is a tool of exam cheating. c) To identify methods used in exam cheating. d) To identify causes and effects of exam cheating. The study intended to answer the following questions: I. What are the major causes of exam cheating among high school students? II. Is guidance and counseling a tool for fighting exam cheating? III. Which methods are used in exam cheating? IV. What are some of the causes and effects of exam cheating? The study also presented the significance of the study, giving details of the beneficiaries of the study. A conceptual framework designed in the line with the objectives and the research title to aid in the realization of relationship of independent variables and dependent variables was presented. The study captured different sources of information in the light of literature review. This review shall help in shedding light about other research studies that would be carried out in the study. A critical review will be presented in line with pointing out the evident points of errors of omission in the earlier study. Conclusion of the study shall be presented as are the gaps to be filled by the study. The study adopted a survey research methodology. The respondents filled a questionnaire that was employed for data collection. The questionnaire to be administered to the respondents will have two sections; section A and B for students and teachers. The questionnaire aimed at gathering diverse information majority of exam cheating cases is caused by teachers and administration due to high setting target goals which are not achievable considering other surrounding factors.en_US
