Abstract
This study focused on investigating the effects of the girl-child affirmative action on the boy-
child welfare. The study case of this study was carried out at Murang'a East Sub County. The
main objectives of this study were the examination of the education status of both gender groups
i.e. the boy child and the girl child. The research also aimed to identify the factors behind gender
disparity in the provision of education in Kenya and the effect of the girl-child affirmative action
on the boy child welfare. An evaluation the statistics in different counties in relation to the boy
child education status was also carried out. The research also aimed to find data that would assist
in determination of relative recommendations and conclusions in this area. The dependent
variable of this study as reflected on the objectives includes the peer socialization of the boy-
child in the manner in which they influence each other in the mile stone they make in their
education, drug and substance abuse which influences their retention in school, understaffing and
how it influences the boy-child welfare and also on the economic, household and community
factors and their contribution on the boy child welfare. The population of this study targeted for
data collection includes personnel of the Ministry of education and the Teachers service
commission employees. Teachers were also a major contributor to the study. Both primary and
secondary data were collected and analyzed. Data was mainly collected through interviews and
questionnaires. Secondary data was acquired through review of company manuals, journals and
annual reports and print outs and the data analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively.
