To investigate the impacts of free primary education and its Sustainability in public schools in Kambu zone, Kibwezi district, Makueni county Kenya.

Abstract

Education in Kenya and at large forms a key ingredient for the good future or the nations. For instance when Kenyan citizens are accorded the opportunity to access education without limitation, the usual output is a strong nation rich with the desired human resources for national growth and full development. In a nut shell, the Government of Kenya (GoK) has been committed in ensuring that all learners in both primary and secondary schools acquire basic education without discrimination. The government has put in place the provision of funds so as to cater for the cost of instructional materials, payment of teachers, development of social amenities among others. The parents have not been left behind in implementing this; they have struggled very much to keep their children in school through provision of required boarding and tuition fees on top of mobilization of resources to support learning. However this has not gone smoothly without some shortcomings which pose a threat and affect attainment of such goals. This study will be guided by the following objectives; To investigate the major benefits of free primary education in Kambu zone, Kibwezi District, Makueni County, To identify key funding sources for the education policy of free primary education in Kambu zone, Kibwezi district, Makueni county, To investigate the challenges brought by free primary education in Kambu zone, Kibwezi district, Makueni County, To investigate the roles of SMC in implementing free primary education in Kambu zone, Kibwezi district Makueni County. The study will be carried out in Kambu zone in Kibwezi Sub-County, Makueni County Kenya located to the West of the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
