dc.description.abstract | The intended outcome of this research was to determine how the primary schools community is contributing to the integration of a range of effective ICT-based practices and pedagogies. Subsidiary to this was how school leaders, policy makers and related stakeholders are equipped in developing and improving the strategies and mechanisms that optimize the development of ICT-based teaching and learning at the primary schools of Matungulu Sub-county in Machakos County in Kenya. Both private and public schools were involved in the research respondents being class three pupils, their class teachers, head teachers and parents. The average questionnaire response rate was 90%. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistics which involved use of frequencies and percentages. Private schools were found to be more equipped in cyber skills at 75% of teaching fraternity. Across all the levels of respondents, use of Email and internet was at higher percentage compared to MS programs, playing interactive games among other programs. Despite the high poverty levels and minimal education standards within most parents in the sub county E-teaching and E-learning is highly appreciated and little strategies have been laid by related stakeholders to facilitate it. | en_US |
