Teaching method is a major factor that affects students’ motivation to learn physics. This study investigated the effectiveness of teaching methods on the performance of secondary school students in physics. Identification of the factors affecting performance in secondary school Physics is the first step in the solution to the problem of poor performance in physics at secondary school level, and subsequently at higher levels. The factors studied in relation to their relative effects on performance, in school physics were teacher qualification, gender, laboratory facilities and resources, school location and interest of students. The study was carried out in 20 secondary schools in Gucha District of Kisii County in Kenya. Questionnaires were used in collecting the necessary data for this study. The data has been analyzed and presented using tables, bar graphs and pie charts.en_US
