dc.description.abstractThe background of the study has shown that one of the factors that affect performance and attendance in primary schools in Kibwezi sub-county is HIV and AIDS. This problem is experienced both in the rural and the urban areas. The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of HIV/AIDS on enrolment in secondary schools in Kathyaka Zone in Kibwezi sub- county. The research approach will be quantitative and the research design is a survey one. The target population will be comprised of students from form one-form four and secondary school teachers from ten public schools in Kathyaka Zone. The sample size is thirty. The study uses a random sampling technique over the targeted population. Data collection tools used was interviews and questionnaires for both teachers and students. The collected data is then analyzed as per the objectives of the study and presented in tables, charts and graphs. The findings and recommendations of the study are going to be useful for both local schools and the national education sector as a whole.en_US
