This study investigated the impact of integrating technology in teaching English in secondary schools in Rongai district and the possible challenges faced by teachers of English as they use the technological items as pedagogical tools of teaching and learning. Despite the government’s effort in improving learning outcomes through grants of computers to most schools, the intended effect has been minimal (MOE , 2009).The researcher carried out his investigation to find out if introduction of computers at the schools in Rongai district had brought out any significant improvements in students’ performance, especially that of English. The purpose of this study was to find out any challenges that may hinder the integration approach or process, and also focused to find out if computer use at the schools had led to better content delivery. The researcher narrowed the study to two schools in Rongai district that had benefited from government grant of twenty five computers each, three years ago. The study took place in May and June of the year two thousand and fourteen. Technology integration in classroom teaching being a point of emphasis in modern education trend, literature review was extracted from various books in libraries, magazines and the internet as well. The study involved form two and three students from Kampi Ya Moto Secondary School and Kiamunyi Secondary School in Rongai district. In order to find out the effect of computer use at the schools, the researcher compared the performance of form two and three students (2012 – 2014 class) from both schools in the year before introduction of computers (2012) and after the use of technology integrated approach (2013/2014) by the English teachers. The researcher’s participation in the whole research process coupled with questionnaires and interviews was keenly scrutinized to obtain important information for compiling research findings presented qualitatively by tables and bar graphs. From this study, it is evident that the introduction of computers at the schools in Rongai district had impacted positively in transfer of knowledge to teachers. The analysis of challenges faced by teachers in using the gadgets (computer) for effective delivery of course contents. The report therefore shows the investigation on the effects of computers on students’ performance in English.
