Abstract
The general objective of the study is to determine the factors that lead to girl-child drop-outs in
Sololo division, Sololo District, Marsabit County and come up with possible strategies to solve
the problem, the study will use questionnaire to gather information. The main purpose of the
study is to determine the factors that hindered girls’ access to education which include early
marriages, poor payment of school fees, inequality and cultural practices. These factors will be
discussed and conclusion arrived at and the recommendations made towards improvements of
the sorry situation within the district. Some of the recommendations include; sensitizing parents
about importance of educating girls, subsidizing the fees payable, soliciting funds from donors
and well-wishers to relieve the burden of fees from parents and also the government to initiate
economic activities in such areas to help parents to provide basic needs to their children. The
procedure for the study will be identifying the location of study, research design, target
population, sample size and sampling procedures, data collection procedure, instrumentation and
data analysis techniques for the research.
