Investigating factors hindering quality performance in KCSE Physics examination at Ikuu girls secondary school of Meru South district Kenya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the factors that hinder quality performance of students at Ikuu Girls’ Secondary School in KCSE Physics examination. The study was guided by the following objectives: to determine whether economic factors are obstacles to quality performance, to determine whether education system factors are obstacles to quality performance and to determine whether contextual factors are obstacles to quality performance. The research found out that economic factors, education system factors and contextual factors affects quality performance. The study utilized descriptive research design and the instruments for data collection were students’ questionnaire. Data was collected from Ikuu Girls’ secondary school that was sampled using purposive sampling; data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings of this study was of importance to the sample school administration, students and other stakeholders in improving performance by ensuring that factors that hindered quality performance can be minimized or mitigated.
