Challenges in the provision and use of learning Resources and the effects of the learning Resources in ECDE curriculum in Ikanga zone, Mutomo district, Kitui county, Kenya.
The study carried out in Ikanga zone in Mutomo district, Kitui County. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the existing challenges in the provision and use of learning resources and the effects of the learning resources in implementation of ECDE curriculum in Ikanga zone, Mutomo district, Kitui county. Its objectives are to find out the main sources of learning resources in ECDE centres , the challenges encountered in the provision of learning resources, possible challenges in the use of learning resources, the effectiveness of learning resource in ECDE curriculum, teachers attitudes towards use of learning resources , parents attitudes towards provision of learning resources and the teacher and parents views on the considerations to be made for successful provision of learning resources in ECDE centres. The study employed descriptive survey research materials. The study targets all ECDE centres in Ikanga zone. This had a total of 37 ECDE centres in the zone. Sampling method would be used to get a sample of 4 ECDE centres to be studied. This comprises of 10% of the total population, the assumptions are that this would give adequate data for generalization of the state of learning resources in the entire targeted population. The main research instrument to be used would be questionnaire. Questionnaires would be administered to head teachers, teachers, parents whereby they filled on their own and the researcher collected the filled questionnaires. Data collected was analyzed by use of frequencies and percentages and presented in tables and pie charts The findings are expected to be used by education policy makers to accord guide in the process of allocation of adequate resources to pre- primary programmes.
