The study explored the probable factors that hinder the teaching of PE in secondary schools in Embu Division of Embu District. The study was based in Embu division because PE is not taken seriously by those responsible for the implementation of the curriculum. The main objective of the study was to find out the factors that may be contributing to this state of affairs. A sample of secondary schools out of the total population in the division was selected using simple random sampling method. Instruments of data collection comprised questionnaires and interview schedules. Data collection from PE teachers, Head teachers and the District Inspector of Schools was through interview schedules and questionnaires were for students. It was found that most schools do not have adequate facilities and equipment for teaching of Physical Education. The head teachers were not cooperating enough with the inspectorate and no regular inspection of schools took place in the division. Data collected was analyzed to get the percentage of respondents and the responses they gave and this analysis guided the researcher in coming up with a conclusion on the findings and a recommendation that would guide in addressing the factors that hinder the teaching of PE in Embu division. In conclusion it was evident that lack of PE facilities, poor inspection, negative attitude towards PE by both the learners and administrators and uncooperative head teachers were contributing to the poor teaching of PE in secondary schools in Embu Division
