Effects of corruption on education in secondary schools in Makueni Sub-county, Makueni County.

Abstract

This purpose of this study was to investigate the challenges parents were facing in financing of Public secondary schools in Makueni Sub - County, Makueni County. The findings of this study were of benefit to all the heads of institutions and the boards concerned in budgeting and allocation of the funds to public secondary schools that was to meet the unique needs of the parents as well as learners in Makueni County and Kenya as a whole. The study provided data to the government and other stakeholders determine whether the schools are complying with the Financial and Accounting Instructions instituted by the Ministry of Education. The findings of this study helped the heads of Public Secondary Schools in implementing new strategies that was to solve the challenges parents are facing. The findings of this study provided public secondary school principals, educators, policy makers, the Ministry of education, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector with a framework for the review of budget for secondary education in Kenya. It provides a new body of knowledge that is useful in budgeting, allocation and monitoring of funds in public secondary schools in line with the Government funding. It also identified the ways in which schools participate in corruption on suggest appropriate measures to be taken in order to curb the practice
