Mulwa, Eric MwanzaAbstract
This study was carried out with the aim of finding out the challenges that confronts teachers teaching learners with specific learning difficulties (SLD’s) in teaching of English and mostly reading areas. Considering other researches made by other scholars, the researcher felt like there is still much to be done in this area. This study will form basis for more other researchers to pick from where the researcher will stop and exhaust the study completely in order to assist teachers and educators in general to cope with the dynamics and challenges in education. This research was aimed at hiring achievement levels of learners in English as a subject as well as other subjects since language will be used in all the subjects offered and learnt in school and as per the curriculum. It is good and important for teachers first to accept that they have learners with special needs before helping them. There is a very urgent need of the training of teachers to have the knowledge of S.N.E. This seems to be a mandatory need in our curriculum implementation due to the fact that our education system is inclusive. Due to the fact that there is free primary education in Kenya; the teachers should be ready to receive all types of learners. Teachers should also be in the forefront in encouraging the other learners to accept and help the learners with SLD’s and other difficulties
