An investigation on the effect of teachers strike in Nairobi County on students performance.

The aim of this study was to find out the impact f teachers strike in Nairobi County. The study was conducted in Nairobi County. It was conducted in selected or sampled constituencies of the county of Nairobi to represent the others since it was challenging to visit all areas of Nairobi County. The main purpose of the study is to investigate the main causes of teacher’s strike, what adverse effect does the study pose towards the students, teachers themselves and the general society. What solutions has the government put in place to curb this problem? The research used descriptive survey design. According to Bell, that survey will aim at obtaining information from a respective selection of a population as a whole and Best and Khan that survey will be used to describe limited population to investigate the effect of teachers strike. The researcher used purposive sampling technique which allowed the researcher to use subjects who will have the required information with respect to the objectives of the study. The sample involved obtaining information for the five constituencies of Nairobi County (Kasarani, Roysambu, Ruaraka, Kibra and Makadara constituencies) because they had an idea of the study. The research used questionnaires and arranged interviews which gave more accurate results since the research methods intended to study the effects of teachers strike in Nairobi County. The researcher used pilot study prior to the actual data collection which gave more reliability and validity of the research instruments and reduced random errors. The researcher seeked for a letter of introduction from the minister of education Hon Joseph Kaimenyi. The researcher used self administered questionnaires open and closed ones and interviews where the researcher visited the offices of the senator of Nairobi County and Education officers. The data was later analyzed identifying what percentage agreed or disagreed with the causes and effects of teachers strike in Nairobi County. The researcher gave a summary, conclusions and recommendations in regards to the study.
