Day Mixed Secondary schools are institutions that consist of boys and girls. These institutions usually admit students who do not qualify to join Boarding schools and also those who come from poor background. The Government of Kenya realized the importance of Day schools in 1960’s when the existing ones by then, Boarding Schools could not accommodate large number of students. Compared to boarding secondary schools, Day mixed secondary schools for three decades from 1970 to 2000 have been performing rather very dismally.
