An investigation on the challenges facing girl child education in secondary schools in kobujoi division, Nandi county.

The study was carried out to establish the challenges facing the education of the girl child in Kobujoi division, Nandi County and hence shed light on how to improve their academic performance. The research objectives included the status of girl child education in, to establish the causes of poor academic performance among girl children and to give possible remedies to the challenges facing the girl child’s education in Kobujoi division, Nandi County. The study was based on Sigmund Freuds analytic theory. Literature was based on the research objectives which include: the status of girl child education, to establish the causes of poor academic performance among girl children and to give possible solutions to the challenges facing the girl child’s education in Kobujoi division, Nandi County. Chapter three which is the research design and methodology utilised the descriptive survey method and the systematic random sampling method. The target population was 17332 and the sampled population used for the study was 119.Instruments used to collect data included interviews and questionnaires that were used on parents and teachers. Data analysis was done using tables and presented in bar graphs and pie charts.
