Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of tribal clashes on education in Marsabit
County,Moyale District,Central Division and Butiye location and the relationship that exists
between the locus of control of victims of tribal clashes in this region and their survival and
problem solving ability. The relationship that gender has to each of these variables was also be
investigated. The study was target both males and females victims in Butiye location. A sample of
150 survivors was randomly selected from this region that is highly affected by clashes. A self-made
questionnaire was be used to explore the feelings and opinions of the survivors. The data was
analysed using the spearman rank order correlation coefficient and the chi-square test using a 0.05
level of significance. It is hoped that this finding was inform policy makers and care givers on the
need to formulate a good strategy that was enable the communities to have a good conflict
management measures. Counselors could use these findings to plan and employ appropriate
interventions in helping those unable to make use of their frustrations. The conflict resolution was
discussed in relation to the need for strengthening and improving rehabilitation and resettlement
programmes of the displaced survivors in Kenya. The matter was be discussed into details in

Questionnaire, Interview schedule and observation schedules. The content validity was tested. Test-
retest method was be used to test the reliability of the instruments. Pilot study was done in two
selected camps. The researcher visited the sample camps and administered the questionnaires to the
victims of tribal clashes. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics (frequencies and
percentages). And it was presented inform of tables, graphs and pie charts where necessary.
