Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the effects of teachers’ lesson preparedness on the
performance of students in selected secondary schools in Kamahuha zone,
Murang’a south sub-county. the objectives of the study were: To determine the
extent to which teachers prepare themselves for teaching in Kamahuha zone,
Murang’a south sub county secondary schools, To find out whether lack of
materials affects teachers’ preparedness in teaching in Kamahuha zone,
Murang’a south sub county secondary schools and To find out how workload
affects teachers’ preparedness in teaching in Kamahuha zone, Murang’a south
sub county secondary schools. A descriptive survey design was employed and
in order to empirically investigate the extent to which these factors influence on
the academic performance of student, a self administered questionnaire was
administered to a sample of 50 teachers and 50 students. Interviews were also
carried out with five administrators from the five sampled secondary schools. The
data collected was analyzed using the SPSS computer program version 16 and
recommendations were made based on the study findings.
