Thesis: The effects of terrorism activities on Kenya’s foreign relations with Somalia.

This research project investigated the impact of terrorism activities on Kenya’s foreign relations with Somalia during the period from 2010-2024. It sought to establish how the two countries’ relations have been shaped based on response to terrorism and the terrorist groups retaliation inside the two partner states. The research then shows the actual situation in a particular area that is rarely researched. The study was guided by three objectives; Analysis the background and extent of terrorist activities in Kenya and Somalia; examination of the strategies adopted by Kenya and Somalia governments to manage terrorism and; determination of the effects of terrorist threats on Kenya’s foreign relations with Somalia. The study applied the Concept of Collective Security and realism theory of international relations to explain its findings. The concept of collective security is a wave of unity of purpose brought about by world states after facing great challenges of war. The situation amongst the people of Kenya and Somalia have complicated their foreign relations and thus the need for this research. This study will add new knowledge regarding the impact of terrorism on Kenya’s foreign relations with Somalia.
