It also sought to find out how to overcome the challenges facing guidance and counseling service in secondary schools. There were 13 public secondary schools in Sotik Division with a population 3,853 students. A sample of 99 Form 3 Students was selected from 11 schools having form three Students. Teachers in charge of guidance and counseling in all the 13 schools formed subjects to respond to research instruments. The questionnaires were administered by the researcher to the students and teacher counselors. Piloting of instrument was done in public secondary schools that were not included in the final sample. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study findings indicate that guidance and counseling on academic issues was provided. The students’ responses showed that social, vocational and personal forms of guidance and counseling were minimal. The researcher recommended that guidance and counseling department must go an extra mile to keep the students informed about guidance and counseling and the facilities offered to make guidance and counseling more effective.en_US
