dc.description.abstract | The Ministry of Education has been on the forefront to improve leadership in all public secondary schools in Kenya. This can be proved by national conferences that the Ministry organizes every year for head teachers so that they can be enlightened on how to manage their schools. We cannot also forget many in service courses that are organized by the Ministry so as to impart the knowledge and skills of leadership to head teachers. The study was to assess the relationship between Head teachers leadership style and teacher motivation in public secondary schools of Buuri District in Meru county. Buuri district is made up of 9 locations and two schools were selected from every location. Random sampling was used to select 18 schools which meant two schools from every location. One head teacher and two teachers were picked from every school to make 18 head teachers and 36 teachers and the total number of the respondents to be 54. The mode of data collection was the use of questionnaires. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). After the results were analyzed, a report was done and presented by use of tables, mean scores and percentages. These findings gave the green light to the conclusion that in schools where head teachers used democratic form of leadership, teachers felt motivated. These findings are very important to the ministry of education even as they plan for in service courses for headteachers. The findings can help the ministry to know the areas they need to include in their programs. | en_US |
