An analysis of the influence of strategic resource utilization on economic development (a case of public sector in South Sudan).

This study was comprehensively analyzing the strategic resource utilization on economic development in South Sudan. The study was guided by the following objectives: to determine whether uses strategic utilization of human resource influence economic development in South Sudan, to identify how strategic utilization of land and agriculture resource influence economic development in South Sudan, to determine how strategic mineral resources utilization influence growth of the economy development in South Sudan and to assess how strategic wildlife resource utilization have impact on economic development in South Sudan. This study employed descriptive survey where mixed methodology was used to collected and analyse data. The target population for this study was 750 people. 20 employees from ministry of finance, 10 from ministry of finance, 10 ministry of agriculture, 10 ministry of mining and 25 from ministry of petroleum and energy made the sample size whose total was 75 respondents. Stratified and random sampling methods were used to select the sample size. The instruments for data collection consisted of a questionnaires. Pilot test of the instrument was also carried out using selected sample of 20 respondents who did not form part of the final sample size to test their accuracy and appropriateness as well as improve on clarity and comprehensiveness of instruments. Qualitative data was analyzed as the study progresses by conceptualizing, coding, categorizing data. Quantitative data was coded and entered into the SPSS computer software for analysis. Data was then be tabulated and analyzed using SPSS version 22.0 to generate both descriptive and inferential statistics. Data was analyzed using multiple linear regression model. The data was presented using frequency tables, bar graphs and pie charts. The study found that there is strong relationship between strategic utilization of resources and economic development in South Sudan. The study also found that human resource, land and agriculture resources, mineral resource and wild life resource influence economic development in public sectors in South Sudan that strongly and need to be embraced for economic development in South Sudan. Recommendation was made based on the study that all public sectors in South Sudan there should be strategies to develop human resource and be utilized properly for economic development in South Sudan. It was further recommended that modern technologies like AI services, cross breeding, fertilizers among others need to be embraced in farming on top of training of farmers to adopt new farming methods to promote agriculture and improve economic development in South Sudan. The study further recommended that modern technologies need to be adopted in exploration and utilisation of minerals and trained personnel and machinery in utilisation of mineral resources so as to ensure mineral resources like oil which make bigger part of South Sudanese economy efficient and effective. Lastly it was also recommended wild life resources need to be protected well and various tourist centres be established so as the wild life resources can be utilised well to promote economic development. There should be clear policies guiding utilisation of wild life resource for economic development in South Sudan.
