Abstract

Professor Raymond Macharia is graduate of the University of Nairobi, He hold’s a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in Vertebrate Neuromuscular Development. He also holds a postgraduate certificate in academic practice (PGCAP) and a MSc in Education from the University of London. He previously worked at the University of Nairobi, University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. and at the Medical School, University of Freiburg, Germany.He lectures and conducts scientific and educational research at the Comparative Biomedical Sciences department of the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and is Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. He has special research interest in neurology and neuroscience with particular emphasis on the molecular and cellular regulation of body systems by the nervous system and the development of therapeutic regimes and strategies to treat neuromuscular diseases. He has attracted major project grants from international bodies such the Welcome Trust, the World Bank and other donor agencies. In addition to scientific research, he is involved in educational research and has been instrumental in tertiary education curriculum development through pedagogical research outputs.
